October Contest Winners Pt.1

Hello everyone!! Happy Thanksgiving week!! (If that's a thing?? It's a fun week tho...) I'm super excited to be sharing the 3 winners of our October Contests!! First up with the poetry win is none other than the lovely Miss Emily Waldorf! Congratulations, Emily!! I absolutely LOVED this poem, (it was even better with the original spacing, which stubbornly refused to copy over, my deepest apologies Miss Waldorf).

Please take a few moments to enjoy "Where Wishes the Wind", and let me know which line was your favorite!!

Congratulations once again to Emily!!

Where Wishes the Wind

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or

where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

John 3:8 ESV

An icy wind, portent of frost;

chastisement for the soul that sinned, the howling of the lost,

whips across the barren realms

where goodness dies and freedom qualms.

What ails, O wind? Why howl so?

“I mourn for dying souls below.”

A foundering breeze, blowing at night,

finding only things which tease, it swirls in search of light.

An eddy crafted out of dust

that chases moths and chews on rust.

Help me, O breeze, I’ve lost my way!

“You walk in night—go, seek the day.”

A sudden gust that brings a gale

with gentle unrelenting thrust, making whole and hale.

From it dusty devils fly,

out from under the bright’ning sky.

Where bound to, gale? What’s now your role?

“Through Jordan I must guide a soul.”

A gentle breath, herald of dawn,

silent comes from tides of death. Stand up, awake! for night is gone.

Look in the face the shining Sun;

he’s risen: now has day begun.

What, O wind—no longer pining?

“No. Because the Sun is shining.”

Was that not SO BEAUTIFUL?? Thank you for entering, Emily!! And happy Thanksgiving week everybody!!
